Where It All Began

It all started in Kindergarten when I began begging my parents to let me play the sports my older sister Nicole was playing. With deep thought and a constant pest on their shoulder they agreed to let me play one sport of my choice. I picked soccer and never looked back. My soccer career all started with the town league. Here is where I learned all the basics of the sport and the position I wanted to play. Shockingly to everyone including myself, it was goalie also known as keeper. I vividly remember the conversation with my parents where I told them I didn’t want to play the field but instead I wanted to play in net and make the 18 yard box “my area”. My dad looked at me and said “You know the game relies on you, you win because of the saves you make and you lose because of the save you didn’t make. Are you sure you want that pressure on you?”. Little old me looked at my dad and basically told him to bring it on. My parents patiently waited for me to tell them that I hated the sport, the position, and just wanted to be done. But they would quickly learn that wouldn’t happen for a long, long time.
